The Holiday season is a time for celebration with your family and friends. It’s a time filled with parties, events, and get-togethers. So naturally most of us want to look and feel our best! Here are some of my tips, tricks and favorite treatments that will leave you glowing this holiday season.
#1. Medical aesthetic treatments are in high demand around the holidays, so if you are interested in relaxing a few of your wrinkles or reversing the clock by a few years, it’s important to plan your treatment accordingly. Anti-wrinkle injections such as Botox/Dysport treatments are best to do 3-4 weeks prior to any events as it takes upward of 14 days for these medications to take full effect. This will also allow time for any touch-up if needed to ensure perfect results! Dysport also tends to activate faster than Botox, so this may be a good choice if you’re tight on time.
#2. Dermal fillers are also a popular treatment before big events as we can erase a few years and highlight features that will be sure to wow the crowd at any event. However, planning the timing for dermal fillers are crucial. Dermal fillers are most apt to cause swelling and bruising that can last up to 7-10 days. You will see results right away, but dermal fillers tend to get better within a few weeks as the filler integrates into the tissues. So, if you are thinking about getting treatments before the holidays, now is the time!
#3. If you choose to get any medical aesthetic treatments, do your homework! Remember, this is your face; something that you share with the world every second of every day. While Groupons and wildly discounted prices are enticing, this should make you pause. Have you read their reviews? What safety measures do they have in place to keep you safe? Is the environment clean? What products are they using? What education and training have they had? Ask all the questions! Alfred Gucci once said, “Quality is remembered long after price is forgotten” – and I couldn’t agree more.
#4. Anti-wrinkle medications may erase wrinkles for 3-4 months, but healthy skin will last forever! When skin is healthy you will notice the glow from a mile away. Okay, maybe not a mile, but you’ll notice good skin when you see it! Medical Grade Skincare will undoubtedly change your skin and will be one of the best investments that you’ll make in terms of anti-aging purchases. Medical grade skincare is just that – medical grade. Over the counter lotions and potions have much higher pH levels which often irritates the skin. Medical grade skincare products have lower pH levels which allow products to actually enter into the skin layers where repair and renewal begin. There are many products on the market, but my favorite hands down are ZO Skin Health products. These products are designed to repair, restore, and protect your skin bringing forth the glow you’ve been dreaming of.
#5. We are in the final stretch, so finding treatments with minimal downtime that will provide amazing results are key. Laser treatments are great for getting rid of stubborn pigment, (thank you Summer!), shrinking pores, evening skin tone, resurfacing for textural improvement. There are many different types of lasers and downtime can vary, so please research the device/treatment prior to committing to anything right before the holidays. My favorite laser for an amazing “GLOW’” is the Tetra CoolPeel. This laser treats the skin superficially, so downtime is minimal. The other perk is that this laser can be used on ANY skin type and color.
#6. If you are looking for a treatment that can be performed just days before a special party or event that will illuminate your skin, it would be AQUAGOLD. This is a micro infusion device that will infuse customized anti-aging products such as Botox, Dermal Fillers, PRP, and Vitamins. When Botox/Dysport is used it will give the skin a tightened appearance eliminating fine lines and pores and is sure to leave you with that special Holiday glow!
#7. Finally, it’s one thing to look good, but feeling good for the holiday season is just as important. There is where “moderation” comes into play. This seems like a bit of an oxymoron as the Holidays tend to be a time when we overindulge in just about everything. Food and alcohol tend to be the biggest culprit of overindulgence. With work, family, and friend parties scheduled all season, the opportunity to eat and drink is endless and sugar intake is on full throttle. Sugar can trigger outbreaks and stubborn acne as well as leave us feeling depleted of energy. To avoid overeating, consider eating something healthy that is rich in protein before you go out and increase your water intake as much as possible. Simple tricks may be having a glass of water after each alcoholic beverage and choosing options such as a spritzer which will reduce the alcohol, sugar, and calories.
Now go get your GLOW on – time is ticking!
