Dermal Fillers

JUVADERM COLLECTION

RESTYLANE COLLECTION

Dermal fillers are truly the most versatile of aesthetic treatments and can be used in nearly every part of the face. Dermal fillers such as Juvaderm®, Restylane®, and RHA® are all composed of hyaluronic acid which is a clear gel that can be injected into facial tissues to smooth wrinkles and folds, enhance facial contours, and provide overall facial rejuvenation. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in all humans, and these products are formulated to mimic our innate hyaluronic acid.

Facial aging is a complex 3-dimensional process that involves changes to the skin, soft tissue, ligaments, and bone. These changes are interconnected, meaning when one layer is affected it causes a cascade of changes to the adjacent layers. And this is where dermal fillers play a vital role. Hyaluronic acid delivers nutrients and hydrates the adjacent tissues, which will temporarily add volume and support to the face.

Each dermal filler has different characteristics and properties that make them unique. You can trust that the providers at The Alchemy Clinic will choose the products that will best suit you and your individual aesthetic goals.

Sculptra Before & after Treatment result in Manchester, NH by The Alchemy Clinic

SCULPTRA

Sculptra is not an overnight miracle, but it is long lasting. Sculptra is the first facial injectable that subtly replaces lost collagen, giving you a natural-looking results. A full treatment of Sculptra is typically three injection sessions over a few months, usually lasting more than two years. Sculptra is a new type of facial injectable made from poly-L-lactic acid, which helps to replace lost collagen that naturally happens as we age. Poly-L-latic acid helps correct shallow to deep facial wrinkles, and folds, that appear with aging by replacing lost collagen. The main ingredient is a biocompatible, biodegradable synthetic material that has been used by physicians for decades.

Sculptra is intended for people with healthy immune systems as one time treatment regimen of up to 4 injection sessions that are scheduled about 3 weeks apart for correction of shallow to deep nasolabial fold contour deficiencies and other facial wrinkles.

Sculptra often fits in the category of dermal  filler, however unlike dermal filler, Sculptra is a collagen stimulator used to restore facial volume loss due to aging or illness. Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) which is a biocompatible synthetic substance designed to stimulate collagen production. Sculptra can be used globally restoring areas of moderate to severe volume loss, deep lines, creases, and folds to give you a more youthful appearance.

The Sculptra process takes several weeks so results are gradual. Patients often need 2-3 sessions spaced 6-8 weeks apart depending upon volume loss. Once adequate volume is achieved we recommend a maintenance treatment every 1-2 years thereafter to achieve ongoing collagen production.

Sculptra can be used as the “foundational filler” as this will create natural results and decrease the amount of dermal fillers needed in the future. We like to think of Sculptra as your 401K as this is more of a regenerative and restorative therapy with longer-lasting benefits; whereas dermal fillers are more like a checking account where results are immediate but don’t necessarily have the long lasting benefits of collagen stimulators.

Sculptra is made of a biocompatible, biodegradable, synthetic material called poly-L-lactic acid, which is gradually and naturally absorbed by the body and helps to rebuild lost collages through a series of treatments.

On average, 2-3 treatment appointments are needed over a period of a few months. The number of injection appointments and the number of injections per appointment vary from person to person, depending on how much collagen has been lost.

Noticeable results are usually visible in 3-4 months.

Results can last up to 2-3 years.

Bruising is possible with all injections, so please, plan 2 weeks ahead of any events/vacations.

Dermal fillers are gel substances made of hyaluronic acid that diminish lines by filling in the tissue layers beneath wrinkles and creases. Results appear immediately and can last up to several months.

Collagen stimulators such as Sculptra are used to diminish facial wrinkles by helping to restore the deep, underlying structure of the skin. Results appear gradually over the treatment regime (typically two-three injections over the course of three to four months) and can last up to two years.

NONSURGICAL RHINOPLASTY

If you’re looking to reshape and refine your nose without undergoing surgery, our non-surgical rhinoplasty procedure may be the perfect solution.

Non-surgical rhinoplasty, also known as liquid rhinoplasty or a non-surgical nose job, is a minimally invasive procedure that uses dermal fillers to reshape and enhance the appearance of the nose. Unlike traditional surgical rhinoplasty, this procedure involves the strategic injection of dermal fillers to add volume, smooth out irregularities, and improve the overall symmetry of the nose.

Why Choose Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty at The Alchemy Clinic?

We understand that each patient has unique concerns and desired outcomes. We start with a thorough consultation so we can discuss your concerns and expected outcomes of the procedure. We also understand that on the basis of the location of this procedure it carries more risk than other areas of the face. As a result, we utilize ultrasound to assess the vessels in the nose and guide our treatment plans for each and every patient.

Jennifer has been trained in non-surgical rhinoplasty techniques under ultrasound guidance and is continuously training to enhance her skills. Jennifer also believes that patient safety is first and foremost in all treatments, especially high risk procedures such as non-surgical rhinoplasties. As a result she utilizes ultrasound for each and every treatment to minimize risk as much as possible.

Non-surgical rhinoplasty is a non-invasive alternative to traditional surgical procedures. It involves minimal discomfort, no incisions, and no downtime. You can resume your daily activities immediately after the procedure.

One of the significant advantages of non-surgical rhinoplasty is the immediate improvement in the appearance of your nose. You can see the results right after the procedure, allowing you to walk out of the clinic with a beautifully enhanced nose.

A non-surgical rhinoplasty can be risky, especially when performed by untrained professionals. In order to minimize the risks we utilize ultrasound in each and every procedure we perform. Most common post procedure side effects include mild redness, swelling, and tenderness at the injections sites that typically subside within a few days. More rare but serious side effects include infection, ischemia, vascular occlusion and blindness.

Unlike surgical rhinoplasty, the effects of non-surgical rhinoplasty are temporary. If you are not satisfied with the results or wish to make further changes, the procedure can be adjusted or reversed with the use of the filler dissolver Hyaluronidase (hyperlink to filler dissolving).

DISSOLVING FILLER

Whether you are looking to dissolve dermal fillers due to dissatisfaction with your previous results or you are experiencing a complication due to dermal fillers, the providers at The Alchemy Clinic are here to help.

Asymmetry, lumps, migration, chronic swelling, and/or overcorrection of specific areas are common reasons why patients may be looking to dissolve their hyaluronic-based dermal fillers. Other more serious complications why patients may seek care include vascular injuries such as occlusions or compression of vessels in the face, pain, or infections.

With the use of facial ultrasound we can more clearly define the location of the dermal filler and dissolve the filler directly under ultrasound guidance. This allows for optimal and precise removal of the dermal filler and eliminates the need for high doses of Hyaluronidase (Hylenex).

Lets start first with hyaluronic acid (HA). Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occuring substance in the body that helps to hydrate and plump the skin. It is a made up of a long chain of sugar molecules that is found in connective tissues throughout the body. Hyaluronic acid is abundant in the skin, where it helps to maintain moisture levels and support skin structure.

Given these properties it is now easy to understand why dermal fillers are made of synthetic HA!

Part of the body’s normal process of breaking down HA is with hyaluronidase. Hyaluronidase is produced naturally  in the body by certain cells, including white blood cells and breaks down the HA molecules.

Therefore the medication Hyaluronidase (Hylenex) is used to break down and dissolve  hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers.

Possible risks and side effects of Hyaluronidase treatment include bruising, swelling and discomfort, as well as an allergic reaction. Allergic reactions however are quite rare.
